Calgary International Airport is the closest airport to Banff, and is about 1 hours from the mountain city. Calgary Airport offers a limo service, Shuttles & Buses, as well as Car Rentals that will all get you to Banff in relative comfort. Since the distance is over an hour, the cost of the transport from the airport will be pricey. The least expensive option is to rent a car for the duration of your trip, and drive in to Banff from the airport.

The Banff public transit system consists of mostly three major bus routes during peak summer season. There are bus stops at all of the town's frequently-visited areas and hotels, including Banff Avenue, Tunnel Mountain Drive, the Hot Springs/Sulphur Mountain Gondola area, and the Fairmount Banff Springs Hotel. During the winter, this service is reduced to two routes. The transit system is at 110 Bear St. (1-403-762-1215).

Taxi service is also available in Banff, however must be ordered over the phone. (1-403-609-0030).

Walking, especially in the summertime, is the absolute best way to experience Banff. Only minutes from downtown, you will be in the solitude of a beautiful forest or by a riverside. There are even opportunities to go mountain climbing. There are trails available all throughout the area.
