Chicago Shopping - Chicago Illinois is one of the prime shopping destinations in the country. The most famous and popular of these is “Magnificent Mile” – a one mile stretch of North Michigan Ave between Oak Street and the Chicago River. This stretch offers first-rate Chicago shopping and provides shoppers visiting Chicago with opportunities to shop for brands such as Bulgari, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, and more. There are several high-rise malls along the stretch with additional boutiques and restaurants. Street performers are all along the strip.

The Magnificent Mile offers enough Chicago shopping to last for days, these include Georg Jensen, Chanel, Louis Vuitton – as well as the Giorgio Armani boutique, American Girl Place (a three-story doll emporium featuring a stage show and a cafe), Polo Ralph Lauren, Tiffany & Co, Neiman Marcus, and the 50-year-old landmark – the Garrett Popcorn Shop. The street and the malls along the mile are also packed with plenty of fast food and restaurants for weary shoppers..

State Street and The Loop was Chicago’s first shopping district. This ½ mile stretch is lined with discount stores and fast-food outlets, however it also features two of the old department stores including Marshall Field & Co (one of the world’s largest department stores), and Carson Pirie Scott & Co. These two old buildings are city landmarks and are architecturally appealing.

Armitage Avenue is a prime Chicago shopping destination as well. The central shopping area is between Halsted Street and Racine Ave. Folks are very friendly in this community, and the shops and boutiques are very sophisticated. There are wonderful, trendy boutiques that includ Cynthia Rowley, Art Effect, Multiple Choices, Barker & Meowsky, and of course some great discount and consignment shops including McShane’s exchange, Fox’s and Second Child.
